The opium war was set off when Britain attempted to trade tea with china. The western europeans were trying to explore places and find new natural resources. China didn't want to trade with anybody. Britain wanted to trade with them so they gave them a drug called opium. Now that the chinese were on drugs they were willing to trade with britain for there opium. Now they were trading opium and tea. Later on china didn't like what they did so it lead to the opium war. Britain was the winner in this war.

Opium Wars - Imperialism in China
The opium war was set off when Britain attempted to trade tea with china. The western europeans were trying to explore places and find new natural resources. China didn't want to trade with anybody.
